The Edexcel Level 2 BTEC Award, Certificate and Diploma in Visual Arts are

designed to provide:

• education and training for people who may become employed in a variety of types of art and design-based work
• opportunities for people to achieve a nationally recognised level 2 vocationally specific qualification
• opportunities for full-time learners to gain a nationally recognised vocationally specific qualification to enter
employment or progress to higher education vocational qualifications such as the BTEC National Diplomas in Art and Design
• the knowledge, understanding and skills required of learners from a design practitioner’s viewpoint
• opportunities for learners to focus on the development of the major and wider key skills in a design context,
such as improving own learning and performance, working with others and problem solving
• opportunities for learners to develop a range of skills and techniques, personal qualities and attitudes
essential for successful performance in working life.
